Captain Les George has been sailing for over 28 years. He currently holds a 100 ton U.S Merchant Marine Officers License (Fourth Issue). Captain George is a basic keel boat instructor with US Sailing. He has attended the safety sea class put on by US Sailing. Captain George is also STCW-95 certified.
Captain George started out sailing on a small catamaran and graduated up to larger boats as the years went on. He has sailed extensively on the west coast and has made multiple crossings to Hawaii. He has sailed and delivered boats back and forth to Mexico since 1984. Captain George and his crew just finished a trip to Mexico which covered over 3000 miles in a three month period.
Captain George is retired from a local fire department. Captain George retired as a Fire Captain. He also served as an Engineer (person who drives the trucks) and as a Firefighter paramedic during his 32 year career as a Firefighter.
Captain George has been running Pacific Coast Sail Charters for the past 12 years. He started the company after getting tired of the drive to San Diego where he was skippering boats for other charter companies. The “traffic was getting worse and I had just purchased a yacht that was nicer than all of the boats I was skippering in San Diego”. So I decided to give it a go. When he first started the business he had the opportunity to meet one of the local time share managers who said that she would let her guests know that we were out here in Oceanside. Currently Pacific Coast sail charter provides sailing for 5 local time share resorts.
Captain George has used Obsession in the filming the movie “The Healers Son”. Obsession has also appeared on the cover of Outside Magazine. Obsession was also used as the start /finish boat for the 2000 ISZU Iron man triathlon. Obsession has also been used for a National geographic special. |
